Paint or Pattern: deciding on wall décor
When designing a room, choosing how to decorate the walls is often the first choice we have to make. With a huge array of paint colours and wall coverings to choose from, it can be a daunting decision and difficult to know where to begin!
Westcot House offers bespoke design packages and as well as offering advice on colours to use to create the perfect interior in your home, we can also create stylish soft furnishings to complement your chosen scheme.
Westcot House work with a range of paint suppliers including Sanderson, Farrow & Ball, Designers Guild, Little Greene, and Fired Earth. The colour and paint finish you choose will vary depending on the room you’re decorating and by working together, we can help you feel confident about your redesign.
If you wish to add pattern to your room, you may like to consider choosing a wallpaper or a fabric wall covering. To fully embrace the design, you may choose to cover all the walls in the room or to enhance a room’s focal point you may choose to just wallpaper a feature wall. In a bedroom, matching the headboard to the wallpaper can be a fantastic way to create a unified scheme as seen in this bedroom using Pierre Frey fabric and matching wallpaper.
Westcot House works with a huge range of designers including Lewis & Wood, Designers Guild, Sanderson, Jean Monro, Blithfield, Soane, Penny Morrison and Andrew Martin. Wallpaper can be a design feature in any room in the house including bathrooms when properly treated and this Lewis & Wood design makes for a wonderfully calm and feminine space.
Another favourite bathroom features this ‘English Robin’ wallpaper by Barneby Gates. Also available in a striking jade colourway, we love how the the soap has been chosen to match the soft pink on the robins’ chests…
To achieve a truly luxurious finish, you may like to consider handpainted silk wall coverings from designers including James Hare and De Gournay. We love the beautiful Chatsworth design on pea green dyed silk by De Gournay in this sublime bedroom designed by Turner Pocock.
